Cowboys' defensive shuffle likely to continue vs Packers

Cowboys' defensive shuffle likely to continue vs Packers”

Time for those Silver Star Nation keys to the Cowboys' game this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

The Cowboys must remain disciplined and not give up silly penalties or allow free yardage to an offense which is already better than their defense. On paper I think the Eagles are the better team, but how Washington dominated a relatively healthy Raiders team a couple weeks ago makes me think it's much closer.

The last time these two teams faced off was in January, as the Packers barely defeated the Cowboys in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Rodgers said Wednesday he wasn't sure whether the team had any plans to honor the victims Sunday during their matchup vs. the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are going to need the pass rush to do damage early and often in order to win this one.

The good news for Dallas is that it is playing a really dinged-up Green Bay team. It would be a huge opportunity for the Packers' edge defenders if backup Byron Bell is forced into action. Is he good enough to hold is own against Bryant? The Packers are one fan base I actually feel sorry for when it comes to injuries.

Of course, the Super Bowl is the primary objective this season but it would be nice for Rodgers to receive individual recognition.

The Kansas City Chiefs, the last unbeaten National Football League club at 4-0 after a 29-20 home win Monday over Washington, have a short rest week ahead of facing the Texans (2-2) and hot rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson, who threw for four touchdowns and ran for another in a 57-14 rout of Tennessee last week.

The Cowboys will be out to avenge that loss - their second postseason defeat in three years to Green Bay - when the clubs square off on Sunday afternoon in Arlington, Texas.

While the Cowboys defense as whole has been inconsistent throughout the 2017 season, their defensive line has played well, specifically defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence has been outstanding. He enters Sunday's game at Dallas with 17 receptions for 141 yards after catching a season-high six passes for 39 yards - including a crucial 26-yard catch and run that set up a touchdown - in last week's victory over the Chicago Bears, another of his former teams. The loss knocked the Bears out of the playoffs and dropped their record to seven and eight on the season.

Rookie third-round pick Jourdan Lewis looked terrific against the Los Angeles Rams and constantly seemed to be around the ball. He has become a master at the big play.

Safeties Byron Jones and Jeff Heath are among the most experienced players in the Dallas secondary, along with Scandrick.

Packers running back Ty Montgomery may or may not play with broken ribs, and Davante Adams (concussion) is also hoping to suit up following a brutal hit in last week's 35-14 rout of the Chicago Bears. The teams played twice a year ago.

Question: Are the Redskins or Eagles the Cowboys biggest competition in the East? .

How will Dom Capers' defense line up against the Cowboys? Williams could miss the game as well with a knee injury, although many think he will end up playing. Cornerback Anthony Brown was limited with an ankle injury on Thursday but should suit up to play.

The Green Bay Packers are 6-1 straight up and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games against the Dallas Cowboys. We've played them three times in a year.
