IPhone 'X,' iPhone8, Apple Watch Series 3 are finally here

IPhone 'X,' iPhone8, Apple Watch Series 3 are finally here”

"Bring the magic of the cinema straight to your living room with the new Apple TV 4K", said Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services. The California-based tech firm adopted a facial recognition solution, called the Face ID, in the X model while removing the traditional home button with the fingerprint scanner.

Apple has dismissed reports picked up by the likes of Business Insider which claim the new iPhone may not make it onto shelves this year due to supply chain issues and "technical challenges", although huge demand for the new smartphone means there could be a limited supply for the first few months in the run-up to Christmas. Adjusting for that, one share of pre-split Apple stock would be worth one almost full iPhone X today.

As disappointing as this may have been for those who like a good surprise, Apple still had some tricks up its sleeve for today's event. It runs on iOS 11.

There has been some chatter that LG Display (NYSE:LPL) could be added as a second source in the iPhone display supply chain, but it doesn't look as if LG Display will be able to deliver panels in reasonable quantities until the end of 2018, and even then it doesn't sound as if it'd have the bandwidth to take over a significant portion of Apple's growing OLED display needs. The company has sold more than 1.2 billion iPhones over the past decade and ushered in the era of mobile computing, but a year ago had a substantial decline in revenue as many consumers rejected the iPhone 7 as being too similar to the iPhone 6. The iPhone X is packed with technologies that we have seen in other phones for the last two year. It's just silver or space gray this time - back to Apple's routes. "The first iPhone revolutionized a decade of technology, and changed the world in the process".

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are evolutions of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, and they look very similar to their predecessors. They managed to overcome that hurdle by optimising the OLEDs to consume less power than usual, and yet produce more colour and also institute the TrueTone display that the iPad Pros have become famous for.

AR (augmented reality) will also be a big part of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus with its cameras calibrated for AR, along with a new gyroscope and accelerometer for better motion tracking. So you can take awesome DSLR-quality selfies for the first time. The front camera, which is 7 MP, has a f/2.2 aperture and Retina flash. Instead, a front- facing system of cameras and sensors supports a new 3D face-recognition technology.

The iPhone 8 Plus has machine learning-assisted portrait lighting that detects faces, separates them from the background, and adjusts the lighting to simulate studio lights.

Yes, the iPhone's average sale price is well below its peak during the 2015 holiday season, but lately Apple has been finding subtle ways to push the average back up.

The company also introduced a Face ID-enabled feature called Animoji, which serves up animated emoji that mimic your facial expressions.

How secure is Face ID? You can record this as a video and send it off as a fun way to communicate with friends in iMessage.

It's arguably the best looking iPhone to date.

The screen on the iPhone X is about the size of the current iPhone 7 plus, though the phone itself is smaller.

"I'm sure that I'll want at least one of the new iPhone, but maybe not five of them, like in the past", Wozniak said. Let us know in the comments.
