Apple to announce the iPhone 8 on September 12”

Apple is hosting a product event on September 12 , according to Dow Jones. The company is expected to unveil the iPhone 8 at a special event, which is rumored to make a number of radical changes including a new screen technology, a wireless charging system and a new face scanner.

Wireless charging has been one of the most requested features from iPhone users who, at one point, have given up hope that Apple will ever increase the smartphone's battery. This new model may cost around $1,000, according to separate reports from the New York Times and Fast Company. A $999 starting price would be $230 above the cost of the iPhone 7-Plus, but only slightly above that of Samsung's just-launched Galaxy Note 8, which is sold by the big-4 us carriers at prices ranging from $930 to $960. The tech giant is expected to launch a bunch of new devices, the primary ones being a new 4K Apple TV, a new Apple Watch and three new iPhones.

As we already know, Apple is expected to launch three smartphones this year.

While the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are traditional upgrades for Apple's smartphone, all eyes will be on the iPhone 8, which has flooded the rumor mill for the past several months.

It has been speculated that Apple is also beefing up the front and back cameras in the iPhone 8 to offer better augmented reality experience. The not-so-awesome news is that Apple is reportedly still perfecting the wireless charging capabilities.

Apple hasn't officially confirmed the date of the product launch. It is still not clear of the iPhone 8 will be carrying a fingerprint sensor, as the device has been rumoured to have an edge to edge display.

The report also claims that the iPhone 8 might only be compatible with wireless charging accessories which are MFi (Made for iPhone) compliant. Multiple sources expect the phone to have an "edge-to-edge diesgn", meaning the phone's screen would capture the entire device's width.

Apple has not announced the official release date for the iPhone 8, though speculations are high that the mobile device will be unveiled sometime in September.
