Samsung reveals Galaxy Note8 with 'infinity display', Bixby, 4 colors”

Samsung has officially unpacked their latest generation of its phablet called the Galaxy Note8 at the Unpacked event held in New York City. In the wake of the Note 7 debacle, it's safe to say that Samsung had something to prove with the Note 8.

Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sports a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ (2960x1440 pixels) Super Amoled "Infinity" display with 521ppi. What the Note series from Samsung is known for is the S Pen, and here, it is an advanced pen with some good features.

Samsung Electronics launched its much-awaited flagship smartphone Galaxy Note 8, the first Note model after its predecessor Note 7 fiasco past year. The design of the smartphone is similar as well, but it has a rectangular body, which makes it resemble the Galaxy Note 7.

For enhanced security, the Note8 also comes with the Iris sensor on the front, and the fingerprint scanner sits on the rear side next to the all-new dual-lens camera. The display resolution is the same as the S8: 2960x1440 for the 18.5:9 aspect ratio OLED. In most other markets around the world, the Galaxy Note 8 is set to go on sale mid-September onwards in Deep Sea Blue, Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, and Maple Gold colors. The live photos in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 allow the users to click photos where the camera can identify the background and the subject and can blur the background easily.

Did you own a Galaxy Note 7? In terms of storage, the Note 8 will come in three capacities - 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), GPS with GLONASS, USB Type-C 3.1, NFC, MST.

The Galaxy Note8 comes in at 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and weighs 195g. There's also an 8MP AF front camera.

You'll also be able to hand-draw replies to messages, which will then play back as a moving GIF.

Samsung will want to forget, or rather learn from what happened past year, as the company officially launches the Galaxy Note8.

This is all backed up by a 3300mAh battery, being a few hundred mAh less than the 3600mAh Galaxy S8+.
