Samsung Introduces Powerful New Galaxy Note 8 at Unpacked Event”

That being said, how does the Note 8 compare to its older Note siblings?

Though rumors have played their part, it's now time for Samsung to unfold the curtains lying between us and the Galaxy Note 8.

Writing with the S-Pen on the Note 8 will be familiar if you've previously owned a Note device. The South Korean company sent out media invites for the launch event days ago, which confirmed that Note 8 will come with a "massive" display and will come with S-Pen.

Just like Galaxy S8, the upcoming Note 8 will have a gorgeous edge-to-edge Infinity display. Samsung has upped the RAM on the Note 8 to 6GB, rather than 4GB, so multitasking should be smoother. The device is also believed to get IP68 certification.

Samsung has a lot to prove with the#Galaxy Note 8, since last year's debacle with the Galaxy Note 7, which led to a complete global recall of the handset. The screen resolution is 1440 x 2960 in a 18.5:9 aspect ratio, similar to what we see in the earlier S-series devices. This means the S8 has the highest pixel density at 570ppi, followed by the S8+ at 529ppi and the Note 8 at 522ppi. The company describes the edge-to-edge screen as an "infinity display". One other colour - Deepsea Blue - will be forthcoming. There's also an 8MP camera on the front, which offers both OIS and optical zoom. The successor to the ill-fated Note 7 is one of iterative improvement over the Galaxy S8, sharing much of its DNA, while preserving numerous features that made the Note series one of Samsung's best, and most customer-loyal, since 2011.

Camera: The dual-lens rear camera setup features two 12MP sensors - one wide angle and the other telephoto.

The Galaxy Note 8 will likely be exclusive to Amazon India based on the "Galaxy Unpacked" banner displayed on the e-commerce site. It also comes with 64GB of internal storage, just like the Note 7 and one model of the Note 5 - which also came in a 32GB and 128GB variant.

The new smaller 3300mAh battery is more efficient that the larger 3500mAh version which came with Note 7. There's a USB Type- C port for charging and the device supports wireless charging as well. Battery capacity of the S8 is 3000mAh, while the S8+ has a 3500mAh battery.

Nearly a year after Samsung recalled its flagship Galaxy Note 7, the burning question remains.

So what about the Note 8 battery then? A new "live focus" feature enables users to change the focus of an image before and after they've taken it. There will also be Screen Off Memo and a Translate feature that will translate sentences with a hover. An iris scanner is also expected to be available on the Note 8.
