Zimbabwe's first lady surrenders to police in assault case”

The Zimbabwean Mail reported the First Lady was in the country to have her foot looked at after an incident at the Harare International airport a few weeks ago. Mugabe had accompanied her husband to the Gleneagles Hospital in Singapore where he was being treated for an undisclosed medical condition.

Spokesman Clayson Monyela said Mugabe would not receive diplomatic immunity.

On Tuesday, Police Minister Fikile Mbalula said that Mugabe had handed herself over to the police and would be appearing in court but she failed to appear. Mugabe allegedly arrived with bodyguards and accused Engels of partying with the pair.

Engels was aggressive and said unprintable words to the boys' mother resulting in Robert Mugabe Junior running away from the scene as he could not take what was happening in front of him. The first lady allegedly wagged her finger at Wiener and threatened her: "I will beat you".

"I don't know how far this case will go but I just want my voice to be heard because what she did wasn't right" Engels said. I thought she was never going to stop, she just kept going and going.

"What happened in the hotel room, I don't have a comment on ..."

These were the words of Gabriella Engels, one of the victims of Mugabe's alleged assault on three women she found in the company of her two sons over the weekend.

Robert Junior and Chatunga Bellarmine are resident in Johannesburg where they are studying following the first family's decision to relocate Junior, who had been based in the United Arab Emirates.

They were thrown out of their apartment in Dubai and also evicted from a Johannesburg apartment for several disturbances including an alleged brawl.

"Grace Mugabe must sit down with her errant sons and teach them common decency and good behaviour".

"We can confirm if this is one of the perpetrators who attacked comrade Grace Mugabe".

Whether or not she committed to handing herself over, the SAPS should have done their job and arrested her, as they would any other ordinary person accused of the same crime.

Mugabe is openly vying to become her elderly husband's successor.

Mugabe's two sons were asked to leave the Regent luxury apartment complex in Sandton last month after an incident in the middle of the night, staff at the complex told Reuters. Zimbabwe's currency recently collapsed, and the country is suffering from prolonged drought.

Robert Mugabe has lead Zimbabwe since 1987.
