Damiere Byrd strengthens his case for a roster spot”

If there was one big takeaway (not involving Deshaun Watson) from my time in West Virginia observing the Houston Texans training camp last week, it was the level of physicality.

Deshaun Watson, for the first time since 2014, won't be taking the field first when his team's offense takes the field. O'Brien declined to rate the performance until after that film work is complete, but the Texans' staff will certainly end up seeing a mixed bag of (mostly) good, (some) bad, and no shortage of tweaking before facing the New England Patriots in their second preseason game.

The Houston Texans will travel to Bank of America Stadium to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 of the preseason.

Over on the Carolina side, they're in a bit of a different situation thanks to a disappointing 6-10 finish in 2016 that saw them finish fourth in the NFC South.

But head coach Hue Jackson on Monday made the surprising announcement that Osweiler, the one-time Denver Bronco and epic failure previous year as a Houston Texan, now sits atop the Browns' depth chart.

Here are five things you need to know about Wednesday's game.

Panthers: Curtis Samuel, wr, questionable; Kyle Love, DT, questionable; Corn Elder, cb, questionable; Cam Newton, qb, questionable; Kawann Short, DT, questionable.

He was asked whether it felt good to silence the Clemson faithful.

"I think he has gained a lot of respect in the locker room because of the way he prepares", Jackson said.

Displaying uncommon poise for a young quarterback along with elusiveness and sound decision-making, the first-round pick from Clemson delivered impressive moments while adjusting to the jump in competition.

"Me and Joe, we talked about it in the huddle", Byrd said, recalling the play. "Getting in and out of the huddle quickly", O'Brien said. I'm very fortunate, I'm looking forward to it. "We were able to execute and get off the field".

Here are a few things to watch for Wednesday night.

30, 2016, after a catch as the Arizona Cardinals' Tyrann Mathieu, left, and Patrick Peterson defend in the first quarter of an National Football League game in Charlotte, N.C.

The Texans signed former Parkwood High receiver Marcus Leak on Saturday, but he didn't get a chance to play Wednesday night. "I got it about eight or nine feet up and let him go".
