The legislation calls for sales tax breaks on back-to-school clothing and school supplies.

Oklahoma's annual sales tax holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. Friday and end at midnight Sunday.

Retailers are required to participate and may not charge sales tax on approved items this weekend. Personal computers and accessories must retail for $750 or less.

During the two-day event, the state won't require sales taxes on clothing and footwear.

Florida's back-to-school tax-free weekend will run from August 4 through August 6 and will include most school supplies $15 or less, clothing, shoes and accessories under $60 and computers and related accessories under $750.

"Of course superheroes are big this year, so we've got Wonder Woman backpacks and lunch boxes and Spiderman, Superman, Batman", says Walmart Store manager Tina Budnaitis. The tax suspension would apply to goods costing $2,500 or less.

School supplies valued at $20 or less.

For a full list of items that are tax exempt, check here. Store coupons and discounts can reduce the sales price below $100 to qualify for the Sales Tax Holiday, but manufacturer coupons cannot.

Local business owners are hoping to see a sales boost with this weekend's sales-tax holiday.

The average household is expected to spend nearly $688 on supplies this year, up from $674 last year. "We are excited about the weekend, and we know they are too".

Counties, cities and other local taxing entities can also participate in the sales tax holiday.

The sales tax holiday has become a fairly regular August occurrence over the past decade or so.

This weekend is Iowa's sales tax holiday, when some Nebraskans are likely to cross the Missouri River to capture savings on back-to-school items. The foundation also maintained that large businesses lobby for the holidays as a way to receive free advertising.

"The kids need them, but you can't always pop off $100 off the hip like that", said one parent.
