Kyrie Irving initially requested trade before draft - to Bulls”

Kyrie Irving wants off the Cleveland Cavaliers and requested a deal for this to happen, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst. However as I have been thinking about it, I think it would make flawless sense for him to play for the Knicks. Other possibilities: the New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources told ESPN.

Kyrie Irving #2 of the Cleveland Cavaliers puts pressure on Jimmy Butler #21 of the Chicago Bulls during the second half at Quicken Loans Arena on February 25, 2017 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The best basketball player in the universe, LeBron James, is reportedly "frustrated and concerned" with how the Cavs have gone about their business. The Knicks could push that envelope by trying to get rid of Carmelo Anthony, but that's a two way trade that helps both sides.

Ever since LeBron James returned to Cleveland they have been the favorites to win the Eastern Conference. Even if they landed Carmelo Anthony, it seems unlikely that he'd be able to break down the Warriors' defense the way Irving has the last two seasons. Irving has set forth four potential landing spots. The Knicks are one of the teams he's looking at.

Many people were shocked following the trade request of #Kyrie Irving, as he opted to exit the franchise that took him on for six years. In terms of Boston, this would be an ideal trade to get another superstar out of the East. I would have to lean towards the fact that he would probably stay in NY for at least one more season. With another team, Irving should be the go-to guy on most days and the 25-year old appears eager to serve in that capacity.

There are some odd components to the situation as there had been no previous word about Irving wanting out of Cleveland at any moment since James has returned to the team in the last three years. No, Wade's value is not anywhere remotely near Irving's.

Los Angeles can offer Irving a great place to play now that Chris Paul is out of the picture.
