Linkin Park cancels tour, including Detroit stop at DTE”

Dieter Ruehle came through for a fan - and for Chester Bennington - ahead of Thursday's baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. Authorities say they are investigating his death as a possible suicide.

Bennington was the face of United States band Linkin Park, which was formed in 1996. He was 41. Coincidentally, Thursday would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday-the Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman died by suicide earlier this year, and Bennington and Cornell were reportedly close friends.

The two toured together.

"The Cornell family is overwhelmed by the heartbreaking news about Chester Bennington which tragically comes so soon after their family's own loss", said a Cornell family spokesperson.

In a 2015 interview with Rock Sound, Bennington spoke about his dark times, saying, "I literally hated life and I was like, 'I don't want to have feelings". The 41-year-old was open about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction in his life.

Linkin Park has canceled their tour following the death of their lead singer. The band's seventh studio album, "One More Light", was released in May. I've battled depression/mental illness, and I'm trying to be sempethetic [sic], but it's hard when you're pissed!

"Lord, take Chester in your arms and please re-unite him with his family and all of us one day".

Shortly after reports of Bennington's death broke, fellow Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda confirmed the news on Twitter.

The rock group filmed a segment for the Carpool Karaoke spin-off just days before the lead singer's July 20 death. Cornell also committed suicide by hanging on May 18 at the age of 52.

Survived by his wife, Talinda Bennington, and six children, Chester's body was discovered at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles.
