Pogba and Lukaku: a Man Utd bromance worth £179m?”

Manchester United has agreed a fee of around £75m with Everton for striker Romelu Lukaku, senior club sources have told the BBC.

The deal, which has been in the works for the majority of the summer for United, effectively ends the side's interest in Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata, assuming it is officially announced in the coming days.

News of Lukaku's possible change of heart has had repercussions around the Premier League, with Chelsea now desperately in search of a striker.

It means Morata's career is now in a state of limbo following United's decision to switch targets.

I think we would all rather have seen him stay where he was or go overseas but I would rather he joined United than Chelsea.

This agreement between Everton and Manchester United does not involve United's captain Wayne Rooney. The Spain global plundered 20 Premier League goals last season as the club stormed to the title and will leave a sizeable gap upon his departure. Since becoming a full-time starter in England's top flight, the Belgium global has failed to score 15 or more league goals only once, when he scored 10 during the 2014-15 season.

Watford is now in talks with Chelsea's young midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, who was brought to prominence last season after catching the eye of Conte.

Everton was desperate to maintain their biggest scoring threat, especially after spending large sums of money to help the side try to reach the top four in the table.

Personal terms are yet to be discussed with the player who helped Roma to a second place finish last season and guided his country Germany to the Confederations Cup win last month.

It remains to be seen whether or not Morata does indeed now sign an extension, but ultimately it looks as though United have already moved on.
