IPhone 8 may drop 'Touch ID', to have facial recognition system”

OLED clearly indicates towards the iPhone 8 whereas the LCD phones are expected to be iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Apple believes the feature offers greater security, as it scans more data points than a fingerprint. The main draw of this year's line-up is the 5.2- or 5.8-inch OLED iPhone which will be the iPhone 8.

In a separate report, noted KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that Apple will feature an advanced front camera with 3D sensing capability for facial recognition and boast a virtual home button. An eye scanning technology might also be seen in order to make the system further secure.

Apple iPhone 8 leak: According to the new report, the iPhone 8 may not have the famous fingerprint scanner embedded within the display screen.

Apple is reportedly testing 3D facial recognition as a way to unlock the next iPhone, replacing the current Touch ID fingerprint authentication method. The company is looking at iris scanning for unlocking the smartphone. The face scanning sensor is said to boast speed and accuracy with the ability to scan a face and unlock the device in a few hundred milliseconds.

Between face scanning, an OLED display, wireless charging, a big push into augmented reality and a fast new 10-nanomenter A11 processor, the iPhone 8 is shaping up to be a formidable flagship ahead of its expected September unveiling. And as mentioned above, the axing of Touch ID practically confirmed that the device will boast of almost bezel-free front display. The 3D sensor also features depth perception to make it more hard to use a 2D picture to bypass a lock.

Meanwhile, the TechSmarttt YouTube channel has posted a video of a leaked screen protector for the iPhone 8. It will come in with a 5.2 screen and will have a glass front and back with additional steel edges.

The list of other rumored specs for the upcoming iPhone 8 claims that it will come with a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch options aside from the larger 5.8-inch OLED version. If systems are not especially smart then they can be fooled with a photograph or model - allowing people to easily trick their way onto a phone.

Finally, Kuo said that Apple will continue to bundle the same 5W power adapter with USB-A found in all iPhones to date. The iPhone 7s and 7s Plus may not get this feature. With 10 weeks until the launch, we will have to wait and see.

The latest report by Bloomberg perfectly aligns with Kuo's predictions. The basic storage will start at 64GB and the next configuration will be set at 256GB.
