On the eve of his visit to Israel, Modi on Monday said he will discuss with his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu the common challenges like terrorism and ways to boost the economic ties. From being a water deprived country to being a water exporter, Israel has taken innovation in this field to a new level and India needs the country to solve its own water woes.

The visit comes 70 years after India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru declined to support the creation of Israel.

Modi did however meet Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in New Delhi in May.

Prime Minister Modi will be visiting Israel on 4-6 July, 2017.

Noting that both India and Israel suffer from the "evil" forces of terrorism, deputy director general of Israel's foreign ministry Mark Sofer said outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hamas were no different from each other and both countries have the right to defend themselves.

In the Knesset, Israel's parliament, PM Netanyahu spoke about positive ties between Jewish people and India. Israel has historically provided weapons to India whenever the latter faced a war.

When Israel was allowed to open its cultural office in Mumbai in the mid-1990s, the move had raised several eyebrows among the diplomats and academics alike, while many news outlets failed to notice the underlying shift in India's foreign policy, barring the Times of India.

India's imports of unarmed aerial vehicles (UAVs) have nearly all been from Israel.

Israel became India's sole access to sophisticated western electronic equipment following the Pokharan sanctions.

India is one of the world's biggest importers of defence equipment, and Israel has become one of its major suppliers along with Russian Federation and the US.

The defense relationship continues at a steady pace.

The deal will see IAI provide India with an advanced defence system of medium-range surface-to-air missiles, launchers and communications technology.

[Prime Minister Modi] is expected to discuss terrorism and cooperation in counter-terrorism operations with the Middle Eastern country.

Through the book, the Prime Minister hopes to become a friend of the students and support them as they prepare for the examinations, the publishers were further quoted as saying. Israeli media have reported that the two countries see more than $1 billion in defence deals each year. No major defense deals are expected to be signed during the visit. In the agriculture sector, for instance, Israeli water recycling technology is helping India grow food more efficiently; Israel has also established 26 agricultural expertise centers in India to teach local farmers new tricks. Clearly, Modi in Jerusalem will leave a lasting impact.
