Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant look to build a Warriors dynasty

He walked away from a city, shoot, an entire state that treasured him, and a franchise committed and close to winning a title, to join an all-star team nearly guaranteed a championship. That stung ever since, and even Durant understood, because he gave up the same lead to the Warriors a round earlier with Oklahoma City.

The 2017 NBA Finals on ABC - the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-1 to win the NBA Championship - was the most-watched NBA Finals since 1998, according to Nielsen.

Much respect to all Warriors parents, significant others and anyone who helped get them to where they are now.

"I was expecting more", coach Steve Kerr told KTVU-TV, joking about the size of the crowd.

The Warriors earned a 129-120 victory on their home floor to win their second championship in three years.

Of course, none of this is meant to diminish the roles of other players and their families; this was just one I wanted to highlight.

People can hate him all they want, but he's still going to work hard and thrive.

Green points to that Christmas Day loss as the turning point when everything just fell into place.

"Every, single day, (he's) demanding more out of himself, demanding more out of us, the true testament of a consummate professional", Irving said.

"That's what we needed. And they did that". In the Finals, Durant averaged 35.2 points, shot 56 percent from the field, including 47 percent on three-point attempts, made 93 percent of his free throws, and averaged 8.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists.

"I need to sit down and figure this thing out", said James, who averaged 33.6 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in his seventh consecutive Finals. Warriors general manager Bob Myers disputed the super-villains notion. It's possible that his outside business interests, which include a desire to one day own an National Basketball Association team, could push him into retirement.

From July 1, the Warriors will be able to use the CBA to sign Kevin Durant to a four-year contract extension and lock up Stephen Curry for another five years.

It is kind of easy to embrace a 7-footer who does everything, including score 30-plus in every Finals game. It's about winning. I think (Curry) knew that.

It will take creativity in putting together a roster, a willingness to spend oodles of money constructing that roster, and the luck and good health that all championship-calibre teams must have. "No matter where they go, it's still in the Golden State".

Durant, as well as veterans Matt Barnes, David West, JaVale McGee and Zaza Pachulia, are all first-time National Basketball Association champs after a combined 56 seasons in the league. "We're even more prepared than we were two years ago because we have that experience now", said Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.

David West finally got paid, but not necessarily in cash. Looking at what the Golden State Warriors have done, are you still a fan of the concept? Everybody for the last 10 years knew how good he was, but until you break through and win that first championship, there's always still something there.
