As expected, Bioware's Anthem is a shared open world players can survive (and loot) together. Large Scale world events such as a shapers storm can also influence the gameplay, providing new quests on the go.

Players don exosuits called Javelins, each of which have different abilities.

Even thought it was revealed during Microsoft's press conference, we suspect Anthem will be a multiplatform release.

Players will take on the role of a Freelancer, heroes that dare to venture out of the walled-off civilized areas in the world of Anthem and explore the unforgiving land beyond. There are multiple suits, and each one is specifically designed for varying forms of play.

Little is known about Anthem thus far, but TrustedReviews has compiled all the facts on Bioware's newest epic. The gameplay, which can be seen below, features our first proper look at the mech-centric gameplay, with a glimpse at some of the combat and traversal capabilities that the game has in store. So clearly there is a multiplayer component, which suggests we could be looking at a cooperative shooter or melee action game of some design.

After divisive releases in Dragon Age: Inquisition and the recent Mass Effect: Andromeda, the studio is fighting an uphill battle of relevance to remain as gaming's premier RPG developer.

These hulking suits of armour appear to be crucial to gameplay and were touted as being completely customisable both in terms of aesthetics and in changing the way the game plays. From this will depend on a lot of how Anthem's gameplay works, in terms of weaponry and equipment, but I am also thinking about verticality which is nearly for sure going to be an important part of the game design here. In fact some have compared Anthem as being a mixture of both Mass Effect and Destiny, which at least on the surface seems to be a pretty apt description.
