Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr returns for Game 2

It was the way the series was supposed to be played. But it was compelling. The Warriors put together a 17-7 run early in the third for an 86-75 lead, but the Cavs cut it to four. Thompson played in his 78th postseason game to pass Jeff Mullins for most in franchise history. The Cleveland Cavaliers shouldn't get too down, and the Golden State Warriors absolutely can not take a breather despite last night's 113-91 shellacking at Oracle Arena.

Coach Steve Kerr has returned to the Warriors' bench Sunday after missing the last 11 games while dealing with complications following back surgeries, and naturally got a huge roar from the Golden State faithful at Oracle Arena when introduced.

The Cavaliers have to be wondering. The Warriors led by as many as 12 points, but LeBron James has been his usual outstanding self in the first two quarters.

Warriors: The Warriors had their first 40-point quarter in the Finals since scoring 41 in the first quarter of Game 6 in 1967 against the 76ers. They can and they will, but that doesn't mean the Warriors couldn't still sweep them out of the playoffs.

The conversations in local sports books aren't unlike the ones taking place in the national media, with everyone wondering how the Cavaliers can slow Kevin Durant. Kevin Love has 15 and Kyrie Irving scored 10 for Cleveland.

Maybe the 2017 National Basketball Association playoffs are just going to be all blowouts, after all.

He had 38 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds in Game 1.

The Cavs' role players have to show up.

"That's the luxury that you have with [Durant]", said Green.

But his defense is still as crucial as he is the rare player equally adept at controlling ball-handling point guards, chasing shooters around screens and matching up with bigger players in the post. The Cavs players also need to track back quickly in defence, which seems to be a concern. But that's like the look that I see in him throughout this Finals. LeBron needs to take care of the ball better, as he was trying to force things too much against a defense that was ready for him to attack.

While the Warriors are looking strong they will no doubt be keen to keep their foot on the gas. "Some of them were from aggression", James said. "The bigs are wrestling down there, and I'm going to keep wrestling down there and get me some offensive rebounds". That's what they do.

"I approach every game the same way, no matter if I'm at home or on the road", James said.

The Cavaliers can not play with the Warriors for 48 minutes without help from Williams and Korver. It's not clear they're capable, however. The Warriors shot 41.9 percent from three-point range (18-for-43). He played 41 minutes and finished plus-21.

It made for an awesome spectacle at times, with MVPs taking on MVPs and all-stars attacking all-stars.

Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry joked about singer Rihanna after the famous Cleveland Cavaliers fan's courtside antics during the National Basketball Association finals opener.

Perhaps the only comfort the Cavaliers can take is that they've been here before.

So what has to change in Game 2 for the Cavs to have a chance? Complacency will not be an issue.

"Rihanna's songs were never really on our playlist", Draymond Green said, confirming what Steph Curry said around the same time in the interview room.

Game 1 didn't play out the way we thought it would, or at least we hoped it would, so give me your impressions of what we saw and what stood out to you?

"Even with that bet, we're sitting in a pretty good spot on the series at this point", Sattler said.
